Build a simple workflow
Connect input, processing, and control in a repeatable way.
After this lesson
You design a workflow with a stop moment for errors and approval before an external action.

The control gate in your workflow
Record which material is needed and which data are permitted.
Have AI perform én defined task with a fixed result format.
Check the proposal before use or an external action.
Part 1 of 3 · Fixed input
Your preference for less movement is on. Choose each part yourself.
Make the process work manually first
Describe where information comes from, what AI does with it, and who checks the result. Use the same trial input multiple times. If the manual method is still unclear, automation will primarily make that lack of clarity faster.
Build in a control point
Check mandatory fields and recognisable output structures. Is information missing or does the control fail? Stop and submit the task for review. Do not let AI fill in empty fields just to keep a process running.
Avoid duplicate actions
With a failed or uncertain transmission, you do not always know if a message arrived after all. Register the status and check before a repetition. Keep automatic sending, payments, and other external actions behind an explicit approval moment.
New practice example
From explanation to a usable result.
A workflow connects small steps with clear input, output, and a checkpoint.
Fictional practice situationFictitious: you receive requests for a tour. AI may recognise the subject and create a draft response, but not send anything.
View a possible solution
This is how it can be done
Step 1: check if the request is complete. Step 2: create a draft using only confirmed information. Step 3: have an employee review and send it. If the date is missing, ask a question first.
Why this works
The workflow has an explicit stopping point. A technically successful step is not yet permission to send.
Make it slightly more difficult
Add a route for an illegible or empty request. What happens then and who receives the file?
Extra practice, at your own pace. You do not need to submit anything. This does not count towards an automatic assessment.

A step further
Add a route for an illegible or empty request. What happens then and who receives the file?
Try & discover · no obligation
Control an agent with a control port
Try to send before the check. Then also test a missing source or a malfunction.
- Retrieve source
- Check draft
- Execute action
What is happening?
- No source has been retrieved yet. Feel free to try the submit button first.
All tools, queues and submissions have been simulated. No message is sent and no external service is called.
This trial works locally with fictitious data and does not count towards your lesson completion. It starts anew with a new lesson or reload.
A prompt to get you started
Design a simple workflow for preparing a response to a customer question. Steps: check input, create draft, check facts, human approval. Describe input, output, and stop condition for each step. Do not add automatic sending.
Apply it
A workflow creates a draft email. The correct recipient is missing and a price has been suggested that is not in the product information.
What should the process do now?
- Choose the most likely recipient and send.
- Send the email automatically without the price.
- Stop for human control of recipient and price; do not send anything yet.
With JavaScript, you can check your approach and receive immediate feedback.
Test your insight
An automatic transmission ends in a time-out. What is the best next step?
- Keep repeating immediately until it works.
- First check the sending status to prevent duplicate messages.
- Act as if the transmission succeeded.
Extra practice
Write a workflow for one recurring task in four to six steps. Name the approval moment and what happens if information is missing.
A request arrives; I check the required fields; AI creates a draft based on approved information; an employee checks facts and recipient; sending follows only after approval. If data is missing, the flow stops and we request it first.
